Joe Rogan is an American stand-up comedian, mixed-martial arts (MMA) commentator, podcast host, entrepreneur, and former TV host and actor.

He was born in New Jersey, but he spent his childhood growing up in different parts of the country. After his parents divorced when he was five, his family moved to San Francisco, then Florida, and eventually to Massachusetts, where he graduated from high school.

Joe developed an interest in martial arts at an early age. While still in high school, he took part in kickboxing, taekwondo, and karate competitions. Although he showed some promise, his desire to become a professional martial artist was shattered after an unfortunate head injury.

After working a few odd jobs and as a martial arts teacher, Joe decided to give stand-up comedy a try, after encouragement from his friends. One thing led to another, and he got his first big break when he was cast on the NBC sitcom, NewsRadio, in 1995. Eventually, he ended up as the host of NBC’s popular reality show, The Fear Factor. The show was a huge success, and to some extent, is still responsible for Joe’s massive fan base.

Throughout his time as a TV host, Joe continued his career as a stand-up comedian. Today, he is one of the most popular comics around, and he sells out theaters across the country. Joe’s most significant success, however, is his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. It is one of the leading podcasts in the world with tens of millions of listeners each month. Several of his more popular podcast guests have health case studies on this site, including Kevin Hart, Jocko Willink, Laird Hamilton & Dom D’Agostino.

Despite all of his achievements, Joe never let go of his passion for martial arts, and for fitness in general. He still practices martial arts, especially Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and he works as a commentator for the UFC. Joe is also an avid fitness enthusiast, and he believes a healthy diet and exercise are essential elements of a happy and healthy life.

Onnit Alpha Brain

Joe Rogan shares his thoughts on Onnit Alpha Brain nootropic supplement!

Joe has spoken numerous times about his reliance on Alpha Brain, a nootropic supplement that helps support brain functions such as memory, mental speed, and focus. Alpha Brain is made by Onnit, a company that Joe has a stake in. Interestingly, when Onnit founder Aubrey Marcus had asked Joe what kind of supplements he would like to see them make, Joe had requested something like Alpha Brain. Later, Onnit sponsored a clinical study that showed Alpha Brain improved memory compared to a placebo group. Joe takes Alpha Brain before comedy shows, and before he announces for UFC fights.

Pure Encapsulations Athletic Pure Pack

Joe Rogan likes Pure Encapsulations Athletic Pure Pack

As a busy comedian, podcast host, father, and UFC commentator, Joe maintains a hectic schedule. And while his diet full of organic elk meat and vegetables is about as healthy as it gets, there are times when Joe might not have access to the foods that he wants. He takes Pure Encapsulations Athletic Packs to make sure he gets all the essential nutrients consistently, as he mentions on one of his podcast episodes with comedian Tom Papa.

As evident from the name, this specific multivitamin is geared towards athletes. It contains numerous vitamins and minerals, creatine and coenzyme Q10 (coQ10) for muscle cell energy [1][2], and L-Glutamine to provide support for the immune system [3].

Pure Encapsulations also happens to be the brand that is trusted by Dr. Rhonda Patrick, a leading nutrition scientist that is a regular guest on Joe’s podcast.

Carlson’s Omega-3 1600 mg Fish Oil

Joe Rogan takes Carlson’s Omega-3 1600 mg Fish Oil

In the podcast episode mentioned above with Tom Papa, Joe also talks about the significance of fish oils in his daily supplementation. Omega-3s are essential for vital functions in the body, they may improve heart health, slow the development of plaque in arteries, and lower blood pressure [5]. The American Heart Association recommends that everyone include fish in their diet, which is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Joe prefers Carlson’s Omega-3 1600 mg Fish Oil [4].

Thorne Research D -1000 Vitamin D3

Joe Rogan recommends Thorne Research D -1000 Vitamin D3

Vitamin D plays a critical role in various essential functions in the human body. Deficiency in vitamin D has been linked with several medical conditions like seasonal depression, back pain, and increased risk of cardiovascular disease [6][7]. One vital function of vitamin D, which might be of most significance to athletes like Joe, is that it helps maintain bone density and strength [8]. Along with vitamin K, vitamin D regulates absorption and transport of calcium, which is necessary to maintain healthy bones. In the same podcast episode with Tom Papa, Joe talks in some length about the importance of vitamin D.

365 Everyday Value Glucosamine Chondroitin w/ MSM

Joe Rogan takes 365 Everyday Value Glucosamine Chondroitin & MSM supplement

As a martial artist, even though he does not complete professionally, his joints regularly take a beating. Joe aims to counter that by taking glucosamine and chondroitin. Glucosamine already exists in the body, and its primary function is to maintain the cartilage within the joints. Taking it in a supplement form might fight joint inflammation and support bone health [10]. Joe seems to think that it helps him [9].

Final thoughts on Joe Rogan supplements & overall lifestyle

Joe Rogan is a beast of an athlete and an overall superhuman in general. His supplements are designed to support his specific lifestyle and requirements. If you’d like to develop your own stack of supplements that support your lifestyle, you have to figure out what works best for you.

Begin with eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, high-quality proteins like wild-caught salmon, pasture-raised eggs, and grass-fed beef, and healthy fats like avocados and cold-pressed olive oil. And make sure to get some exercise every day, and to get 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep.

Then, you can add supplements to cover any nutrients that might be missing from your diet. Start with the multivitamins, and then add the omega-3s and the vitamin D3. From that point on, you can add other supplements as you see fit based on your health and fitness goals.
